On Essences and Spaces - Behrens and Loos*

U članku se iznosi i elaborira teza svojevrsnog reciprociteta između odčitane strukture vremena i primjereno formiranog fizičkog sklopa kao njezina nužnog, prirodnog okvira. Autorica ispituje kako arhitektonski prostor odgovara na specifične, različite interpretacije istih kompleksnih socijalno-povijesnih prilika na prijelazu iz XIX. u XX. st. Teza je razvijena na arhitektonskom i teorijskom opusu dvaju suvremenika - Petera Behrensa i Adolfa Loosa.This paper elaborates the tentatively posed thesis of a specific reciprocity between the perceived structure of the age and adequately constructed physical framework as its necessary, natural setting. It examines how architectural space responded to distinctive readings of the same complex socio-historical condition in the period of transition from the 19th to 20th century. The thesis is developed on the architectural and theoretical work of the two famous contemporaries - Peter Behrens and Adolf Loos

On the Concept of Truth in Architecture: Gottfried Semper and the Creation of a Functional System of Architecture

Polovicom XIX. stoljeća, njemački arhitekt i teoretičar Gottfried Semper uspostavlja kompleksnu arhitektonsku teoriju, svojevrsnu preciznu "znanost o arhitekturi", kako bi omogućio nastajanje potpuno "istinitih" i autentičnih umjetničkih djela. Članak ispituje složene operacije, kao i neminovne probleme pri uspostavi takve široke sistemsko-simboličke konstrukcije. Analizu Semperova arhitektonskog sustava provodi s pomoću osnovnih teorijskih implikacija modelske teorije jezika austrijskog filozofa s početka XX. stoljeća, Ludwiga Wittgensteina, sugerirajući u isti mah i svojevrsnu kompatibilnost dviju naslovljenih teorija.Around the mid-nineteenth century, the German architect and theorist Gottfried Semper created a uniquely complex architectural theory, a sort of precise "science of architecture", with the aim of enabling the production of truly authentic works of art. This essay investigates complex operations, as well as inevitable problems, involved in creation of such a broad symbolic system. As a main conceptual tool of analysis, the paper uses basic theoretical implications of Ludwig Wittgenstein\u27s model theory of language, suggesting at once a certain compatibility between the two respective theories

Osnovni tjelesni nacrti za mekane modularne pneubotske konstrukcije u arhitekturi

This article introduces a theoretical model for the design of pneubotic structures that can be constructed and actuated by using the modular unit volume element. Through analysis of construction of soft robots, pneumatically adaptive and responsive structures and art installations, a set of four basic body plans is proposed, as abstract expressions that form a base for the design of soft modular pneubotics in architecture.Članak donosi teorijski model za projektiranje mekih pneubotskih konstrukcija koje se mogu konstruirati i pokretati koristeći jedinični modularni volumenski element. Analizom konstrukcije mekih robota, pneumatski prilagodljivih i reagirajućih konstrukcija te umjetničkih instalacija, dobiven je set od četiriju osnovnih tipova tjelesnih nacrta kao apstraktnih izraza za projektiranje složenih modularnih pneubotskih konstrukcija u arhitekturi

The Influence of the Bauhaus on Croatian Interwar Architecture

Članak istražuje utjecaj i značenje Bauhausa za razvoj arhitektonskog razmišljanja u Hrvatskoj, pri čemu ukazuje i na neke zanimljive podudarnosti, poklapanja, dodire i simultanosti tih dviju kreativnih sredina. Istraživanje naslijeđa Bauhausa − kao jednoga od najvećih i najintrigantnijih umjetničko-pedagoških eksperimenata u suvremenoj europskoj, pa i svjetskoj kulturnoj i umjetničkoj povijesti − postojano je prisutno i relevantno, a ove godine još i dodatno aktualizirano obilježavanjem 90. obljetnice od osnutka te slavne avangardne škole.The article examines the impact and significance of the Bauhaus for the development of architectural thinking in Croatia between the two world wars. It thereby points to some interesting overlapping, correspondence and simultaneities of the two cultural milieus. The research on the Bauhaus, as one of the most influential and intriguing artistic and educational experiments in European and world cultural and art history, is continuously instructive and relevant, especially emphasized in the year when we celebrate 90 years from the foundation of this famous avant-garde school
